My 2 Christmas Morning Rules

Do you have any "rules" for Christmas morning? I have 2. Yes, I know, it sounds mean. One is whatever child is up first turns on the coffee maker. Then when all the children are up they may open up their stockings. They can not wake mom and dad before 7am! They can come in and snuggle, turn our TV on, but we are not getting out of bed until 7. Sounds harsh, I know, but I have had many a Christmas Eve, putting things under the tree, setting toys up, going to bed at 3, only to be awoken at 5 or 6. My boys are early birds. Mom? Not so much!

No children for whom I have to make any rules. Just my hubby and me...and then we go to my parents' home for the day and dinner ~ except this year, since we lost my Dad in October, Mom is coming up here to be with us. It's going to be a hard Christmas...

No rules in our house either. But I don't have any kids. My boyfriend is 25 and I'm 26, and we both work evenings, so it's rare if we wake up before noon(and that's on a good day, it's usually about 2pm).

I imagine when I do have kids, there will have to be rules though. No way am I getting up at even 7am. I think when I lived at home with my parents we started Christmas at about 10am.

It sounds very reasonable. We don't have any rules here, I usually get up early with them anyway to get the boys breakfast and then I head back to bed again.

We had the similar rules when I was a child. We could not open gifts until Mom and Dad were ready, too, and that was usually after breakfast.

We usually have breakfast after the presents are opened. I do have to have coffee, and mom, god bless her, usually makes some cinamon buns or something for the kids to nosh on, but with all those presents waiting, who wants to eat?
