soliloquy
It is not your love that breathes me in and out.
I stand by myself, strong in the shadow of the night.
In the house of hearts.
If your gift is to devour me inside out, take it back. I can devour myself.
It is not your strength that keeps me bound.
I hand you my weakness, gently in the shadow of the night.
In the house of dreams.
If your gift is to bind me, and damage my wings, take it back. I can damage myself.
It is not your essence that feeds my soul.
I feed myself, lustfully in the shadow of the night.
In the house of nourishment.
If your gift is to starve me, and keep me in need, take it back. I can starve myself.
So here I stand, with myself, in the shadow of the night
In the light of my life
And I breathe in - head over heels
And I breathe out - heels over head
And I grow inside out
And laugh outside in.
For without your gifts, I am free to be myself.

Good write!
Thank you, Poddar and Svetlana, for being so supportive.
Thanks Elizabeth ~ I guess there is an element of dependency in every relationship and that can be healthy. It's when control rears its ugly head that you need to step back!
Thank you, Selene. Nice to see you, I know you're very busy with your beautiful new grandbaby!
Courtney, thanks, Leland too.
Thanks Nyota, and Elsie, yes, what a good feeling!
