A couple of months ago we found a very hairy, black caterpiller in the bushes near our front door. We brought it inside and kept it fed. A couple of weeks later it coccooned. Several weeks after that it hatched into a beautiful leopard moth. It is pure white with black spots. What you can't see in the picture is that under the wings it's an iridescent purple. We set it back onto the bush we found it and after a day it flew off.
We also found and successfully hatched a gulf fritillary and a monarch. The monarch has such a beautiful green emerald cocoon.

We are expecting a plague of caterpillars here, the ones that make you itch something chronic if they are touched. (don't know what they call them) Millions of them.
for world butterflies.
An amazing story.
