I'm not sure if anyone remembers me writing in October about Red, my niece's cat who is staying here with us was diagnosed with chronic renal failure and was put on a course of fluids, and a couple of other meds and came through that episode just about good as new, he gained back all of the weigh he had lost and he was even running up the stairs!
A few days ago I noticed he wasn't eating again and was getting lethargic. He went to the vet Tuesday and got more fluids and meds. But soon after he got home he seemed to get so much worse. His gums even started bleeding :( I have been giving him his meds and fluids but I'm not sure if they are doing any good.
Tonight he got so stressed from getting his meds and fluids it effected his breathing to where he was wheezing and was very limp afterward and it was very scary to watch, I thought we would lose him then. He is breathing better now.
He is drinking water but I think it pains him to do so. He isn't eating and he is much weaker than he was the last time and just does not look good at all.
The vet doesn't have office hours on Wednesdays or Thursdays and the ER vet is $120.00 just to walk in the door and we do not have that kind of money, so we will be calling the vet in the morning (Friday) and see what can be done but I have a feeling that the best thing we can do for poor Red is to have him PTS.
Thanks for reading. I will update when I find out more.
