We had our Christmas, I mean Holiday Party today at work. We had a meal with your choice of raviolis, chicken or pork roast. I had the pork roast, which apparently was the best option. For the first time in years we had a sit down meal served to us instead of a buffett. The majority of the money for this event is paid by the employees. We do activities throughout the year to raise money for the event. It usually is filled with hundreds of gifts raffled off. This year the only raffle they had was one where you had to buy tickets to win. We had to go back to work after we ate.
I have always worked for employers that gave their employees something for Christmas. We have only had a meal for the last seven years that I have worked there. I am grateful to have a job with benefits, but I feel a little cheated. Maybe I am just being a whiner. Does your employer give you anything for Christmas?

Our division party is next week and it will be a potluck. Some of us are playing in the Secret Santa game and will reveal our identies at the luncheon.
They provide a nice lunch to employees--I think the Friday before Christmas, and we close at noon on Christmas Eve and 3 on New Year's Eve. My department does Secret Santa, and we are planning on having a little Christmas get-together next weekend.
However, they do an employee event every month, and because they sponsor several local business, we get free tickets to cooking classes, musicals, sporting events, the comedy club, and they are involved in different charities. So in addition to be blessed with a good job, there are nice opportunities for "dates" with my husband.
On Friday hubby also has to attend a holiday party for all of the department heads, and each one has to give a presentation involving something they do that other departments may not be aware of. They get a catered dinner, spend half a day at work, and get paid for a full day.
So he gets two parties this weekend. :)
Sorry, but I think just having a job in todays market is a blessing.
I did hear Go Daddy was having a hudy party with all kinds of bouses. They have a 42 % increase in sales,
I know that the Christmas dinner and gifts and stuff has changed over the years where my dad works.
And my husband doesn't get a gift or anything from his school, but they do have a catered meal on the last day of school before Christmas every year.
