My Laptop ~~~~~OH MY GOSH, THEY LOST THEIR MIND~~~~~~

Some of you might remember a few weeks ago, i had problems with my laptop, it would not turn on properly. And since we have bought a HP 6 month ago, we decided to recycle the laptop with www.gazelle.com

i went to their website and typed in all the info for the laptop and my offer was i believe 265$, so i thought wow great, and they even send me a shipping label. 

I was all happy, because those 265 bucks could have saved our christmas (since we had that 300$ repair in our Bathroom). Well i was happy to early....

I send the laptop in, and waited, now just 5 minutes ago, i got an email from them, that my laptop is in excellent working condition!!!!!! thats what it said.

They had reset it to the old settings, (i think that fixed the problem because it would not turn on properly, but now it does.

anyways, excellent working ..... yuppie.... so, well it says, excellent working condition, but since it has a few since of wear, some scratches on the outside......

Their new offer would be : 50 BUCKS!!!!!!

i bust out laughing, and i did not except the offer, i asked them to send the laptop back, if i put it on craigslist i am almost 100% sure i would get at least 250 Bucks... since it is in excellent working condition.

i should have done this right away, now i am mad at myself. 

So guys if you ever have something to recycle and it has some scratches, but works great otherwise, please do not send it to gazelle.com

and i looked at the laptop before i send it and it is great, i did not see one scratch, and the little one is only 3.5 years old. thats how they are trying to get you. first they make you a great offer and then they drop it to almost nothing....

That is really rediculas, that sounds like some roundabout way of lowballing to me and is very dishonest, I think.

they will return it, and i will try to sell it otherwise... craigslist or ebay. I mean it works good.

Thanks for posting this feedback on your experience. It is great to know there are resale and recycle outlets, but how they work in real life is more important.

How would you have known, Beate? Don't berate yourself...I'm assuming they WILL return it to you then? I hope you can and do sell it on Craig's List and get a good price for it. What a total scam!! Thanks for sharing your unfortunate situation with us, so we can avoid doing the same thing!

well they said they will send it back within 2 business days. I also thought since it was working great i would get a good price. i thought they would pay me the 265$ that they had offered. But now i am starting to think, they might just care how it looks on the outside. you know how you can buy refurbished products for really cheap.? So i am thinking if it would have looked great on the outside, but had problems running, they would have fixed it and then sold it again as "refurbished"....but i am not sure, but i sure will not use a trade in place like this again.

Hopefully it comes back soon. You should report them to the Better Business Bureau. $265 vs $50 is way to big a discrepancy.
