A Good Use For Those Empty Card Board Tubes

Ah! a wonderful time to buy and give gifts to you near and dear ones. All right, bought all the gifts, wrapped them in those special gift wrappers, all done. Oh, u forgot something! What about those empty cardboard tubes? What do you do with them? Simply throw them away? Let’s think again, maybe you can do something else; maybe you are already doing something else with them. Then why not share with other people.

Here are some ideas I can think of. Will love to hear whatever you have to share with others.

1. You can also save one or two to extend your vacuum rod and clean under the hard reach places such as under the refrigerator, dryer and so on. The good part is you can change its shape based on your need without losing its tube like quality.

2. If they are big enough to put on the rods in your cabinet then give them to your kids to decorate them and then cover the rods with them, a great handmade decoration for the kids.

3. Make a Kaleidoscope out of them for kids, a homemade toy. You can get the instructions from net.

4. You can also use them to role your dresses on them to store for whole season. I am not sure which dress because I read about it long ago on the tips for storing the clothes from Martha Stewart, but I think u might find exact instructions from net.

5. If you use long floor lamps and the tubes are big enough to cover them then you can decorate your tube again with kids and cover your floor lamps with those decorated tubes. Good part of it that you can change the decorations acc. to different season or festivals. New season.. New decoration.. Special decoration for Christmas or Halloween and so on.. Or just decorate some special theme for the b’day or to welcome somebody special's first visit in the house.

6. Make them as bowling pins to knock them out with bolls. You sure need to add something on the bottom to make them look like the pins. It could be a great indoor game for the kids.

7. Cut them in circular rings. Decorate them. Put them in string as if you are making necklace but in this case just decorate your windows or top of the doors or where ever you want too. Use your imagination.

8. Save them for your kids' b' day party.. Cut them strait..Or diff. size of rings. Give them to kids with glue, paint, colorful paper and a flat board. They can glue them and make sculptures by using their own imagination. They will love this and learn about 3D sculpture. It can be a great activity for b'day party or any other indoor activity time. Then have a sculpture exhibition of their work for fun. I know for sure that kids from every age will enjoy this activity because I have already done this activity with my 1st grade students. Oh, yah.. if the kids are younger then they need u to guide them otherwise they will figure the things on their own.
