I cannot believe that the leaders of the Screen Actors Guild are considering striking in the middle of this economy. How arrogant can you get to think that being an actor is so important that you are willing to put so many people, not just the striking actors but the businesses and employees that are dependent on the entertainment industry, out of work in the middle of a depressive economy?
Do these people not get the fact that their jobs are about pretense and that they are so fortunate to do what they enjoy doing and make a living at it and what they do isn't that all fired important? It's not like they are out there saving lives or something.
I think that what they are considering could possibly be one of the most irresponsible and selfish things that anyone could do. The film and TV industry is a major economic input in California and if these idiots decide to strike, they are going to put additional hardship on a state that is out of money to begin with.
What are they thinking? The Writers' Guild accepted the same deal that SAG is being offered but SAG is too good for that. Let me tell you that I have no problem watching old movies and reruns rather than support a bunch of spoiled brats!
People are losing their homes and going without food because they've lost their jobs and can't get one right now. I bet a lot of those out of work people could find some talent that they'd be willing to work with the studios on. In my opinion, if SAG decides to strike, the studios should just hire outside of the union and forget about them. If these people are this stupid and selfish, they deserve whatever they get!
I'm all for fighting for what's fair but this is an insane time to be very demanding since people will have to tighten their belts where entertainment is concerned. I just find this whole thing totally appalling!
What do you think?
