It just keeps getting better and better! Not only are midwives being prosecuted for assisting women who birth at home now the AMA and ACOG are supporting legislation to "curtail homebirthing".
This legislation is referred to resolution 205 and it makes me furious! Under no circumstances should our rights to choice be taken. Recommendations are fine and dandy, educate and advise us but DO NOT force us!
How can they honestly get away with this? It is clearly a monopoly! They want to make money off of us. Hospital births cost anywhere between $8000-$15000 home births cost from $1000-$5000 so it can easily be about money. There is so much wrong with our health care system!
Plus, midwives have been delivering babies since before modernized medicine existed so it also seems a bit like a turf war to me...
Whatever it is I am not having any of it. It is not okay to tell us where we have to deliver our babies and it is not okay to take our choices away! Ugh, I am fuming mad!
ABC seems to be covering alternative birth a ton this week, they just posted another article you can read here.

In the middle ages, many midwives were charged as witches. Seems like there is a modern-day attempt at this again. It is a noble profession and birthing option that should be respected.
My mother had all of her children at home.
I think it has to do with money,it cost a lot to have a baby in a hospital.
Arrrgh...
