2008 Christmas Carol Show Down

to determine the #1 Holiday Song in Gather Town!!!

64 traditional carols and holiday songs of the winter season are vying for your votes to be crowned as the #1 Gather Town favourite song! Songs included in the Christ Carol Show Down have been drawn from traditional Christmas hymns, secular holiday standards, and more recent seasonal pop chart tunes. Some of the songs in the Christmas Carol Show Down come from the ♪ Ping-a-long Sing-a-long ♬ Request Line. Through a series of elimination rounds, repartage, and head-to-head musical show downs over the next few days we will determine Gather Town's favourite holiday song.

While the songs are competing for your votes to be #1, you the voters will also be in contention for a prize of your own! All comforming votes cast during the Christmas Carol Show Down will be entered into a random drawing for a 2gb SD memory card. The drawing will be held the day after the crowning of the 2008 Gather Town #1 Christmas Song. The more songs you vote for the more entries you will have in the drawing!

Cast your votes for your favourite songs throughout the Christmas Carol Show Down. In the early rounds there will be new groups of songs posted daily that will need your votes if they are going to continue to vye for the #1 spot. In the elimination rounds you may want to vote for more than one song, the 1st round groups will advance 4 songs each. If you like you can try to stuff the stocking ..er.. ballot box.

But as is customary in Gather Town only vote for one song at a time (one song per comment). Please note: Ballots cast for more than one song at a time, or claiming you like all the songs, or submitting a song not in the list, those ballots will not be counted. So vote for as many of the songs as you like, as often as you like, just remember that it is one-song/one-vote.

Begin by voting for your favourite Christmas Songs in each of the first round elimination groups. In this 1st elimination round the top four (4) vote gathering songs in each group will advance to the next round of competition. The 1st elimination round will present all 64 songs in groups of 8 and two groups will be posted each day over the next four days. Click each group to vote for your favourite 4 songs in that group.

The Fine Print: The 2008 Christmas Carol Show Down is open to all Gather members. The winner of the 2gb SD memory card will be randomly drawn from all member votes(comments) posted to all the 2008 Christmas Carol Show Down articles by Gather midnight (11:59 PM EST) of the last day of the final round (this date will be determined and posted with the presentation of the final two songs). The winner will be notified by gathermail and must provide a valid mailing address to receive shipment of the memory card. Shipment will be made through USPS 1st class mail. In the event the winner resides outside the U.S. any customs or import duty/taxes/fees will be the responsibility of the recipient. All results are final as and when posted by the host. The Christmas Carol Show Down and accompanying drawing may be suspended at any time for any reason; including: loss of service, community interference, unforeseen corporate collapse, and/or the possiblility of the whole thing getting run over by a reindeer.
