As a supporter of homebirth I love to see this topic come up in the news because I don't think many people understand what is going on. The issue is not whether or not you agree with homebirth, it is not about if you would choose a homebirth for yourself or if a homebirth is best for you and you baby. Each woman's situation is different and she will decide what she thinks is best. The issue is about the fact that our right to choose a homebirth is being taken from us.
I know many women will homebirth anyway and there still are midwives who will attend homebirths underground but the point is that our right to be able to choose this option is being taken from us and that is not okay.
I don't want anyone deciding what is or isn't best for me and my situation. To be forced to birth in a hospital is just absurd to me, what si right for some is not right for all! There are many people whose religious beliefs conflict with hospital birth, they also deserve the right to choose.
Then there are others who just strongly feel that in their own situation a hospital birth is not what is best for them physically, spiritually or emotionally.
We should all support a woman's right to choose regardless of where you choose to birth and why. It is a freedom and a choice that is being taken from us because more people aren't concerned and educated about it.
