Some of you may recall when our basement first flooded this winter. We are in a rental home and have been since moving to Indiana in September.
With this months check we included a letter to the landlord expressing our concerns about the flooding and the fact that they did not disclose the flooding to us.
I am worried about mold in the basement since the house is so old and we know the wooden siding and indoor/ outdoor carpet down there is from the 70's... If the house has been flooding down there for over 30 years there has got to be some bad stuff growing down there! We can't alter the house since it is a rental and we think the mold is their issue to fix.
Anyway we sent our letter off via certified mail and it arrived with their mail carrier on December 1st but nobody was there to receive it. The letter went back to their local post office and a notice was left for them to pick up the letter at the post office. It has been 8 days an nobody has claimed the letter & rent check.
This makes me mad. They are flighty anyway but to make matters worse our rent is late on the 5th of the month. Do you think we should be charged a late rent fee when the letter was always sitting there waiting for them to receive it? Also, what would you do about the flooding and possible mold?

About the mold, call your city's building inspector! IMMEDIATELY!!!! That mold can make you very sick. If you have animals and/or children, it's more toxic to them than adults! Take a Stand! Make him pay your moving expenses, take him to court!
