This is an auspicious thread which I am wearing . It's called "Mangal Sutra". It's made of pure gold, strung in a yellow thread with black beads along with gold chain. It means...I am married. Indian girls wear this ornament at the time they get married.According to Hindu-Marriage there are five signs of marital status of woman.Vermillion( we put on forehead), Toe-rings,Bangles, Nose-ring and Mangal -Sutra.In a ceremony groom ties this first.This ornament has different looks in India.They are made in numerous designs and patterns.North- Indian and south-Indian Mangal sutra are different.

I love culture lessons. when I took German in school, one of the best parts was when we learned about the culture there. I have loved to learn about other cultures ever since! You are such a beautiful lady. I have always loved Sari's too...I think they make all women look beautiful.

It is very lovely. I'm not surprised that you can't wear it around Vishesh, though; any sort of dangling jewelry makes too good a toy for an infant.
