At work we have exchanged names for our Secret Santa gifts. The spending level is around $20. I got the same person I did last year. She is very sweet, and loves horses -- she has two horses herself -- and country decor and old-fashioned values.
Last year I purchased her one of those pretty horse statues they sell at Hallmark. These were actually based on a local contest that was held years ago, where business owners or individuals could sponsor a large, life-sized horse and decorate it any way they liked. These became such a local pop culture phenomenon that the line of horse figures was developed from them and went country-wide. It was a huge hit with her and everyone else from work said it was perfect for her.
But I think it would be sort of tacky to get an additional horse statue to go with it. I want to do something a bit more creative than that. I am not very artistic, so this would have to be something store bought. There are a couple of mom and pop country and feed stores in the area that have boots, jeans and other things she is interested in, but I don't really travel in those circles so I don't know which stores she likes, or where they're even tucked away down back roads! I don't think you can buy gift certificates to them, but it is a possibility.
So I am asking you, my Gather friends, for a little inspiration! Maybe you are a horse lover like she is, and could give me some insight into what else she might enjoy. Perhaps you know of a neat online shop that sells items that might appeal to someone with a love of all things country and down-home? Maybe you have seen something in a chain store somewhere that had a horse theme that I could try to find locally, or order from a catalogue. Whatever your idea may be, I welcome it and look forward to seeing what you all come up with! Thanks in advance, everyone. Even if you can't think of anything, please pop in and say hello.

A T-Shirt with a horse on it would be super pretty. I've ordered from VistaPrint.com (I see they are advertising in Gather now) and they ship relatively fast. You can customize a horse T-shirt, postcards, business cards, calender, anything you want for a pretty good price, sometimes even free and just pay shipping. If you use the pictures that they have, there is no picture charge but you can upload your own picture of a horse for, I think $5.00 in addition to the other prices.
Toys R Us has some awesome horse statues, some with riders, that are made by Schlein. Some of them even come with fairy queens, princes, there's knights on horses and they are small, about 6 inches tall, cost $15 and the details are beautiful.
There's horse DVD's, like The Adventures of the Black Stallion that are great older TV series/shows. Some of the new horse movies are Flicka and the Horse Whisperer but I would consider some of the older horse movies and shows. A lot of them are really good and bring back good memories of watching them as a kid. There's The Black Stallion movie starring Kelly Reno, it's got some gorgeous horses in it. You could include a copy of The Black Stallion book (or several from the series) by Walter Farley which the movie is based on.
Sometimes Wal-Mart will have charm bracelets and have some horse charms that are pretty and not expensive. I know I love mine! And with the horse charm, if you bought two of them and if the lady has pierced ears, you could buy the wires and make a pair of horse earrings that way, just with two charms and pierced earring wires.
If you bought some pretty oak picture frames with glass, you could frame some horse pictures from calenders or horse postcards and give her a set of horse pictures. I have some of those (that I did myself) and I love them too!

Angel Horses: Divine Messengers of Hope
The deep soul connection between horses and humans has long been celebrated in song and myth. This collection of true stories carries on that tradition, highlighting horses' unique ability to hear divine messages, intuitively communicate them, and transform despair into hope.
Whether granting disable riders a sense of freedom, healing wounds of childhood abuse, giving troubled teens and lost souls a sense of purpose, rescuing people from danger, practicing intricate dressage moves, or showing that love endures beyond mortality, horses bond with people in ways that change their lives forever.
I've read "Angel Dogs" and it was wonderful. I know she'll like "Angel Horses'
Thanks for posting to Whatever Floats Your Boat
The most popular stuff are things they use. Like neatsfoot oil, leather cleaning kits, "saddle soap", ect.
Or a bag of horse treats, Jeffers Livestock has an online site they sell thru. eNasco has some nice horse stuff too.
I've resorted to horse socks, or "riding" gloves for my aunt & sister-in-law
