I started babysitting at a very young age, 9 years old. I also had younger siblings since the age of 3. After I graduated high school, I moved to California and was a nanny there for 3 years. I've always loved working with children.
Before I became pregnant with my first child, I was working in a child care center. I took 120 course hours of classes, courses and seminars in regards to child development. And as a result, I earned my Associates Degree in Child Development.
After becoming pregnant, my husband and I decided that it would be best for our family and our children if I became a stay at home mother! A decision that works wonderfully for us and one that we wouldn't change for anything!
I feel honored and very lucky to be able to stay home with my children.
After my children are both in school, I will get a job during school hours, most likely involving children. But one that will allow me to be at home before and after school, weekends and holidays. Our children are what is most important to us, and we don't want to miss out on a single thing.
I just finished up posting the six goals that I wrote during my Child Development classes. Through the course I read numerous articles and attended numerous workshops directly related to child development. I had a great time and I learned so much.
Even though I wrote these competency goals while I was working in a childcare center. They can easily be applied to any parent, babysitter or in-home childcare center as well. I used many of the same techniques while I was caring for children in my home.
I hope you enjoy them and even find them useful!

really this is lovely Bridget
my daughter-in-law is a stay at home mom she and my son and their 3 kids are in Mexico on vacation right now
I used hate when people made me feel bad for staying at home. Like if I was too stupid to do anything else with my life.
I loved it when My babies were little. Now they are all in school and I will be starting school in Jan. too.
I teach a weekly AWANA class at church that is for 2-3 year olds. I love it. And once every six months, my husband and I teach Junior Church for a month--so every June and December we have 4 yr olds through 5th grade. That's a large age range, but such a blessing.
I would love to be a SAHM but it is not possible right now. Soon enough, I hope.
Just commenting you back, thanking you for a comment you made on one of my Christmas Questions, question #2! I always pay back the comments!!!!
