The Anna's Hummingbird! 8 NEW close-up photos!

This little guy is like "my shadow" whenever I go wandering about outside with my camera... He was especially cooperative today:







This next photo is one of my two favorites that I took of the Anna's this morning:







And this next photo's the other of the two that I liked best:





And, while I was taking photos of the hummingbird, large groupings of birds kept flying over my head in stops and starts... I could see that they had "ruddy" breasts and were fairly large but couldn't readily identify them... I kept taking zoom shots when I saw them land in the trees, though, even though I couldn't see if I was getting any photos of them or not since I couldn't make out the thumbnails in the LCD display of my camera in the bright sunshine...

When I downloaded all the shots into my graphics program, I was amazed to see that those large flocks that had flown over my head were made up of ROBINS! I've never, ever SEEN robins in flocks that large before! That's probably why I had trouble identifying them at first -- I never expected to see robins flocking like blackbirds!

Here, though, is the proof:



Robins are not usually very plentiful visitors here in the "wild hinterlands"... Certainly not like other places where I have lived -- in and out of Sonoma County...
