Hi Moms and Dads,
Here is a toddler craft that my son and I loved and it made great presents too. It is applesauce ornaments. We adapted it to make them into hand prints and painted them for the tree. That way my son could give his relatives a little momento of him without very much extra cost at all. You will need 1/2 cup of store bought applesauce and 1/2 cup of ground cinnamon. If you are making more than one, just make sure they are equal portions of both ingredients. We made ours into the shape of a heart and then pressed his hand print in the middle. Then after they dried we painted them it was great fun. Make sure that you put a hole in the top for the ribbon loop!
Have fun! Check out more ideas on Toddler Activity Room!
- Stir together cinnamon and applesauce with a spoon until the dough becomes stiff, then use your hands to create a ball of dough.
- Place the ball of dough on a sheet of waxed paper, flatten slightly with your fingers.
- Place a second sheet of waxed paper over the top of the dough and roll out dough to about 1/8 inch thick.
- Use cookie cutters or your own template shapes.
- Air dry creations on a waxed paper-covered cookie sheet or a cooling rack for at least 24 hours until they are completely hard.
