Did you know that being tongue-tied is a real thing? There is a bit of skin between the bottom of the mouth and the tongue, and apparently in some people that skin is 'shorter' than for others, and that is what doctors call being tongue-tied. My eldest son was told by one doctor that he is tongue-tied, so we have a outpatient surgery planned in a couple of weeks where the Doctor will snip it, then stitch it a couple of times, in order for him to extend his tongue. My husband thinks it will help with Brandon's slurring of some of his words, which I always thought was just my husband's hearing loss....but the Doctor said that is real. The Doctor said they used to do lots and lots of these surgeries but now only do it if it affects speech or the patient desires it. And here I thought being tongue-tied meant you couldn't say what you wanted to say!!
