There's a healthy diversity of viewpoints in this week's encore broadcast, as the gang dissected the latest from Kings of Leon, "Only By The Night." Also, Mercury Rev communes with nature on "Snowflake Midnight," and Jenny Lewis welcomes a host of familiar friends on her second solo outing, "Acid Tongue."

For the online question, I'm thinking about fashion... What musician, past or present, has a sense of style that's one of your favorites?  My guests are Mark Wheat and The Current's Assistant Music Director David Safar.

David saying that the new K o L album is a flash in the pan and that it is not an album worth buying is absolutely wrong. Are they following the trends? Maybe, but Only By the Night is a great evolution of their sound. It is their most listenable album (in my opinion, and I own all their music). If they sound like older great bands, that is probably a testimony to their own greatness (and their own staying power) because there is definitely still a “Kings of Leon” sound in their music.

I agree with Bill, disagree with David.

Paul Simonon was dressed to kill when The Clash went into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I always liked the Clash's sense stylistic justice, the cover photo on Live at Shea Stadium is a good example. A baseball bat is always a good accessory.

Great call Andrew!! Always thought Paul had it going on. My choice would be Marc Bolan.
Opened my eyes to the fact that us guys can wear anything! It just looked better on him because he had the corkscrew hair! AND for some reason I was always enamoured with Pete and Moonie from The Who wearing the boiler suits!

If we're talking about the whole fashionable history of rock--Bowie, hands down! Me, personally? I appreciate that Britt Daniels of Spoon irons his shirts. Can we also give Bjork an A for creativity, even if a dress with 30,000 sq feet of fabric isn't exactly pret-a-porter? And Gram Parsons' rockin' a Nudie suit was pretty cool, too.

Ben Gibbard has what I would say the best sense of style in rock music right now. I love his plaid shirts that he wears. His style is pretty basic but really cool. gotta love his glasses too.

Willy Deville is so cool, the slick pompador, The fine suits, and ruffled shirts, the pencil thin mustache, but mostly the voice. The smooth spanish crooner in the white rock n roll world. We are not worthy.

I'm going to say Tommy Stinson, Izzy Stradlin and Johnny Marr. They always look cool as hell. In fact, in line with last weeks topic; maybe these three should start a band.

I loved that first Bash and Pop album, it should have sold more copies. But I wouldn't take Marr away from Modest Mouse just yet. I think they have the potential to make the best album ever recorded. I mean bigger than Hotel California or Breakfast in America or Rattle and Hum, the White album,or whatever. Also, I wonder if Izzy will buy a copy of Chinese Democracy, and does he ever wake up and think, "I'm not going to wear this stupid Top hat today".
