Yes, Breaking Dawn Arrived in Today's Mail!

This is the last book in the Twilight Series and I've been anxiously awaiting the mailman to deliver it. Well, it's here, yay!

I didn't think I would get so addicted to these books when I began reading them 10 days ago, but I have. I cannot remember the last time I could cover 500-700 pages of text in less than 2 days. I'll be sad to see the series end.

This book has gotten a lot of bad reviews, but I know from reading them that there are some bright spots in this final chapter and I cannot wait to dive into this book. I have not opened it yet because once I do, I won't come up for air until late tonight. I have a very hard time putting these books down.

An example of this would be the 250+ pages I read of Midnight Sun on my computer screen yesterday. That was to be book #5, but apparantly the project was cancelled when someone leaked these chapters online. It's a shame too because rereading Twilight from Edward's perspective was quite entertaining and also showed some events that were not present in Twilight.

The last book I read that was from somebody else (I just went through my Merlin book for next year with my editor) was Tracy Fabre's Evan's Castle. It was sweet. I thought I would gag here and there (I don't read "romances") but I didn't and it was really smart and snappy - with cool people and dialogue that was a hoot.

I liked Breaking Dawn as well. In fact, Twilight and Breaking Dawn were my favorite from the series (though I also enjoyed the Midnight Sun fragment and hopes she decides to finish it someday).

Melinda it has like 1100 5-star ratings and 750 1-star ratings on amazon. A lot of people didn't like it. I have not given up hope because I am sure I will like some things about it and closure is always a good thing. Did you read the PDF of Midnight Sun from Stephanie's Site? Think there is any way she'll get back into that project?

Stephanie posted that fragment on her website for the fans since the leak and because she said she's given up the project. I downloaded the PDF on her offical website. You might want to check it out. It's really good and a very different perspective.

This is only book #40 for me. I won't make my goal of 50 novels this year, sadly.

I just jumped on the Twilight bandwagon after being urged by friends and family. The last book that captivated me though, was A Home at the End of the World by Michael Cunningham (he wrote The Hours)...

I've read this, in fact I have read them all, and I can't imagine who would give it bad reviews. I will say this though, the last one I do not think is appropriate for young people. I know that is her intended audience but I would not let my 12 year old daughter read it, if I had one that is. Of the four it is actually the one I thought showed the author's writing capabilities. The plot in breaking dawn becomes more complex and she starts to delve into other POV's. It is the better of the series.

Wow I thought the Midnight Sun fragment was pure crap. I think she is selling herself short going that route. The story's told. Using another view point isn't going to make it fresh. She should either continue on with the series or try somethng else.

I didn't like the last book that well, because I didn't care for the direction it went. I did enjoy the whole series as a whole though...

I haven't read Midnight Sun...I need to find it online and read it...I'm sure Pher wants to also.

I'm busy reading The 39 Clues Series and um...well...working the online puzzles...

The last book that really grabbed me was Stephen King's Duma Key. I read it last spring. I'm currently in the middle of his new book of short stories.

Jennifer, I can see where sex and pregnancy probably are not something a tween should be reading. No, I have not cracked the cover yet, but I read enough reviews to get some of the subjects that are covered in Breaking Dawn. From a writing critique perspective, you're probably correct. Most writers get better with practice, right? I thought Book #2 and #3 were tighter than Twilight. In fact, there are some things in Twilight, from a writing perspective, that could have been done better/tighter. I think the negative reviews are coming from the storyline and the changes in the characters more than the her actual writing abilities.

Yes, Midnight Sun is a draft. Even I found loads of mistakes. But just reading it for story enrichment value was what I liked about it. I liked hearing so much more from the Cullens and their relationships with one another & their home life. Plus, it was funny knowing all the things that Edward was seeing in people's minds. I really would like to see it written. I rather enjoyed seeing the other perspective in the Edward/Bella dynamic. I always wondered what Edward was thinking and this shared that with me.

the last book i totally consumed was 'the kindness of strangers' it was really good ! i read that it like 2 or 3 days !

my mom just read twilight in 2 days.. that thing looks as big as the bible.. haha.. i don't know how she does it

but i saw the twilight movie & absolutely LOVED it.. i want a boy like Edward Cullen.. haha.. & Robert Pattinson is absolutely gorgeous ! but my mom told me to read the book because it's different so i'm depicting if i should read it or not..

Meg, read the books. I finished Twilight in a day and a half. All of them so far are really fast and easy reads. The book is a bit different than the movie in that you get shown so much more. There are a few scenes that are out of place too, BUT they are pretty close.

The one I received today is split up into "books" rather than chapters. I finished book 1 already. Melinda wherever you are, I laughed out loud at the biting pillows and the condition of the headboard. THAT'S some funny stuff. The writing is definitely different though. The touchy feely stuff is absent so far.

I think I'll ask for these for Christmas. I used to have a huge appetite for books. It's dwindled greatly in the past 10 years or so. I am going to make myself get back into it. I just don't have the concentration I once did.

Got to read them in sucession for the full effect Rose. This book is all about coming full circle. I think a lot of that "aw" would be lost without reading the other 3 books first.

so i started reading twilight on wednesday night & finished it thursday night ! haha.. it was really really good ! i wasn't expecting to like it this much.. so i'm going out today to buy new moon.. i hope i don't finish it this fast.. cause i'd have to go out to the store to buy the next oneeeeee.. haha..

You'll be like me Meg, in mourning. I'm almost tempted to read them all again, lol. Luckily I have finally gotten a little into the Iris Johansen book (Dark Summer) and that seems to hold me for the moment. I do miss these books though. I too hope she decided to complete Midnight Sun. Did you cry in New Moon? That one was an emotional rollercoaster for me, whew!

i did cry.. it definitely was an emotional roller coaster for me too.. i've kinda been in the same situation as Bella.. haha.. kind of.. i feel so attached to these characters it's seriously craazy ! i'm going to see the movie again with some friends.. cause i'm obsessed with Robert Pattinson.. haha.. & of course i'm gonna be reading more of eclipse too !

I went to see the movie again this last Friday on a matinee. I found a website called Twilightmoms where there are a bunch of middle aged women (ahem, like me) who were/are hopelessly addicted to this series. It's kind of funny, but you're either in or out with these books. And if you are in, you're really in. I know how you feel. At least you still have another one to read until you feel lost.

i finished eclipse last night.. haha.. i think i'm buying the last one tonight.. i'm gonna try & not finish it so fast.. but i don't know if i'll be able to put it down ! i seriously am thinking of writing to Stephanie Meyer & pleading her to write more books ! haha.. idk what it is that draws me to this series.. but i've become completely & utterly obsessed ! & i saw twilight again last night.. haha.. I was thinking of you Meg, lol. I didn't see you around much last night and figured you were knee deep into Book #3. Breaking Dawn isn't as good as the others, but it wraps everything up well. So it is a must read.

I too have been thinking of writing her a letter. I have not seen an email addy posted for her anywhere, but I do know she takes fan mail through her publisher and I have that address. I want her to write more books too. From what I've read, she plans to finish Midnight Sun for herself, but as of now, has no plans to publish it :-(

I've never read this series. Not sure if I've heard of it before now.

When I got into the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich, I read them in order starting with book one and reading straight through to book nine or ten I think, which is how many were out at that point. I couldn't put them down and I instantly picked up the next one when finished with the preceding one. The character eats a lot of donuts in the books. I also became obsessed with donuts. We had to drive to Florence nearly every day to get donuts from the Krispy Kreme. I gained like ten pounds while reading those books!!

i finish breaking dawn tonight.. you're right.. it wasn't as good as the others.. but i still HAD to read it.. haha.. the whole preggo thing kinda weirded me out actually.. i wasn't really expecting that at all.. but i really wish she'd come out with the 5th book SOOOOON.. i know she's mad.. but c'mon.. haha.. but seeing the movie again can always fill my void.. since Rob Pattinson is the perfect Edward Cullen.. soooo gorgeous.. haha

& i've read a couple Stephanie Plum books.. they are pretty good ! my mom got me into those too ! i think i'm gonna re-read lovely bones or start to read marley & me.. but i will miss Bella & Edward..

i did like that part Marianne.. & you're right.. i would of liked anything for the book to keep going ! the 700+ pages just wasn't enough ! haha..

Melinda.. i got the impression that she would eventually get the book published.. but right now she said she's too mad to finish it because she said she'd kill the Cullens & no one wants that.. i know i don't ! but i really will miss reading these books a lot.. i will probably re-read them eventually.. but until then i'll just keep seeing the movie ! haha

I read an interview with her that's more recent and she said once she can go two years without hearing the words Midnight Sun, she'll then finish it.

Today is the Rock the Box Office day for Twlight fans. Everyone is encouranged to see the movie again today, it's original release date, to send a message to Summit. I'm going to try to go late this afternoon if I can. Right now I can't tell where it's still playing locally though.

I loved the twilight series!!! I also liked her other book "the host" as well. I get sucked in by books alot!! LOL Laurell K. Hamilton books always capture me like that!! As do Sherrilyn Kenyon ones too! LOL I read ACHERON in 2 days and it is HUGE! LOL

i love twilight and plan on gettin breaking dawn soon but the last one was the time travelers wife it totally moved me and had me in tears
