I went to get my mail today and had the nicest thing happen to me. The mail boxes that belong to the trailers here in the park, you have to cross a very busy main road to get to them. I was trying to cross our front yard in my crutches, to get to the mail boxes and had barley gotten out the front door, when an elderly man who had stopped on the road at the side of our house asked me if I was going to get our mail. When I told him yes, he told me he would go get it, as he knew what a difficult time I was having and didn't want me to get hurt trying to cross the road.
I thought this was nice (but somehow felt bad letting him get my mail for me). After he got the mail out of the mailbox (there was a lot of mail because I haven't been able to get it for three days), he crossed the street to bring me the big stack of mail. Instead of handing me my mail, he held the mail and followed me to my front door and patiently waited, while I scooted up the four front steps on my bottom and put my crutches inside. Only when I was safely inside did he hand me my mail.
Have you had any random acts of kindness happen to you lately or have you done any for someone else, whether big or small?

Husband was in line in the grocery store, and an elderly man bent over to pick something up, lost his balance (he got lightheaded) and fell on the floor. The man's wife was putting things on the belt and did not see her husband fall down. My husband tried to help the man get up, and the wife turned around, saw what was happening and started hitting my husband with her purse, yelling "Leave him alone! Help! This man pushed my husband down!" Here comes the manager. My husband tries to tell everyone that he did not push the man down. I suppose the man was feeble, because apparently he could not tell anyone the story. Thank goodness someone else saw the man go down, and stepped in to straighten the whole mess up, or I think my husband may have had to take a ride in a police car!
I like this story -- I think I'll make a post and title it something like "When good deeds go wrong"
Bert it's random surprises that are so nice to find.
My daughter has a white boxer named Barley.
