Do you donate to Toys for Tots? I do every year. Believe it or not, we are invited to a BLOCK PARTY the 2nd week of December every year, and the cost to get in is a donation to Toys for Tots. 3 of my friends and I each chip in $25 and I go shopping with the $100 in hand to purchase the presents.
I also make my 3 boys spend $10 each of their own hard earned money on a Toy for this program. The only stipulation with this is that is has to be a present that they, themselves would want. Sometimes they pool their money and buy one big thing, or they just buys some things seperately. I always add it up in my head, if one kid is buying a $7 toy, one an $8 and the other a $9, I make them pick something out for another $6. No one goes home with change!
By the way, it is FREEZING at the block party. Most people have their outdoor fireplaces in their driveways with the chairs around them. We have alot of fun.
