Slip Slide Laughter

Such is February, snowflakes falling, swirling
Winds whistling, twisting, guiding you this and that way
Insider wish for better weather and daydream
Yawning in dawning, songbird's welcome, looking outside
A few simple Spring flowers, more color on the way
Thoughts running from place to space, awakened

Heart of Winter, the Sun backing furthest away
Shroud of white, hinterland, a wonderland
Crystals falling, snowballing, Snowman's toothy smile
Button eyes, old top hat, Pinocchio nose, silvery moon
The love of nature, bonfires, under snow petals
Slip and slide laughter, refreshingly cold and wet

Catching up on things, last Summer's firm resistance
Projects to do, two months, easiest dented
Organizational laughter, life's comic moment
Remembered afterward in a dusty blue sky
Streaks of clouds, high jet liners, visionary
Moments of Déjà vu filtering, forever

So, ob-la-di, and la-di-da, words sing along
Warming fires of gladness, in lovely melodies
Youth audacious, mirror reflects strands gray
Humility fathers boldness, patience, experience
Certain losses on edges of time explained
History's seasoned life, flowers whenever
Sole leaf's soliloquy greeting new horizon
Sharing hope for this moment

This is wonderful, reminding me of the joy of winter when I was younger. (Now old Arthur makes winter somewhat painful) I almost want to go out and make a snow angel, it is a good thing we don't have any snow right now...lol

A grand poem, William. I'm gazing out on a dozen pine trees, branches laden to the ground with heavy snow. I think I'll trudge back to bed for an hour and see if I'm feeling brighter when I wake up.

It sounds as if the snow has already fallen where Wilhelmine resides....and I imagine within the next couple of days we will be seeing the "white stuff" too, William. Though I no longer ice skate on the pond nor go deep into the bogs to slide down sand hills, I do appreciate listening to the young as they laugh and frolick in the noonday snow.

Wonderful poem about the winter in February, good thing about it, spring is just around the corner, now that December and January , we still have to get through them , may be slipping and sliding then, but I don't go out if it is slippery, I will just stay in and look at the winterwonderland all through a pane glass window. Love your feeling of it William, a forward look.
Actually, Bill, it is not winter at all but summer in February ... the hottest month of the year in West Oz. But I will think of this scenic poem when I am sweltering.

This is wonderfully descriptive of seasonal change. I love light hearted way you've rhythmically danced through the seasons and reflected the changes they bring forth in nature and how they affect ones attitude
Wow, wonderful poem, but I think I'll run true-to-plan and attempt to hibernate until spring. The older I get, the colder IT gets. Brrrrrrr!

You are right William, we could end up with up to a foot of the fluffy white stuff!! It's fun watching it come down (from indoors) just so we don't get any freezing rain!!! It's beautiful if you don't have to get out in it!! (don't I sound like an old Scrooge??) I guess this will be our first (big) snowfall of the year! My 4yr old grandson and daughter in law are here from ARK and they LOVE it!!!

My daughter's snowman from our 3-4 inch fall a few days ago is getting a new clean (coat) on it and of course her "snow chair" too! Hope you are doing well my friend!! I wish I got notifications when you put out an article....just a glitch I guess that I don't!

I predict that by tomorrow or Tuesday if you decide to write a poem about the snow, it might depict it as a bit less beautiful than you have here. I know I am already feeling less loving about it in anticipation of having to go out it the stuff and remove it. My back, arms, and shoulders ache already just thinking about it.

A wonderful feel good look at winter. I love seeing the snow in moonlight. There are patches of it this morning but not enough yet to create that glistening wonderland.

You managed to make me excited for Feb ... the month I'm most excited for spring :):) I love winter, but by Feb I forget to enjoy the moment (Unless there is a big deep snow) & focus on April. Maybe I will choose to enjoy Feb this year.

Brrrrrr William! It is about 35º in Houston right now and I just want to go hibernate. I hate the cold weather!!!! And your poem, so intense ... It just dropped 10º more!
