In the tradition of the season, I thought we should all take a moment to consider the many miraculous and wonderful things Gather has brought into our lives. Please vote for your favorite feature in the poll below.
I have a number of favorites there (the resurrection of conspiracy theories and the hordes of mentally unstable sockpuppets among them), but there is only one option that's unique to Gather. I voted for that one. :-)
I encourage all to rate this article a 1, by the way. It took 10 minutes to write, and 30 minutes to resize the poll so the whole thing would show and the text would be readable.
I think it did accept your votes, Sandy. It went from 3 votes to 20 pretty quickly, and every option has at least one vote. Oddly, I had the same problem—it wouldn't register my vote for option #1.

Actually, I called Stephanie a "crap apple hater" for not choosing that as her favorite Gather feature, but I see the potential for confusion. Other than that, this poll is totally fair, unbiased and as free of ambiguity as possible.

Stephanie - thank you for the poem. I suspect I may not have a clue what it means, but that will not stop me from taking it as a clear validation of what I have always suspected—that I am better than everyone and anyone who doesn't see that is a retard.
I'm sorry, Stephanie, but your poem is like those problems with the perfect country and western song - it lacks the main ingredients. I don't see a word about fluttering hearts, kittens, or rape, flowers, or weddings.
Sandy - the main ingredient of Stephanie's poem is the fact that it's about me. I like how it seems to imply that when I'm speaking to women I'm not actually with, I don't even need to use a phone. You just can't get that from regular guys.
Heh, heh! I just voted, and it looks like bad poetry and crap apples are running neck and neck. I voted for the sock puppets, reviving conspiracy theories, trading meaningless comments for money, and crap apples. Sorry, I have a tin ear for poetry; I can't tell good from bad (although my ear is good enough to figure out that TS Eliot is great and Rod McKuen (sp?) writes horrible crap).
How could anyone NOT vote for crap apples?! (interrobang). They are unique to Gather, the very raison d'etre of the site! Without them, gather would be just another place for people to play games that start with a consonant (should be one of the poll choices, btw) or wave poetry-spouting sock puppets at one another. Viva crap apples!! Long may they crap!!!
