There are many things written in the Bible and there are many different things to debate about. Theologians have theories on the scripture and how to interpret them. Will it be Pre tribulation, Mid tribulation or Post Tribulation for the rapture? Who did Adam and Eves children marry? Did God forgive Judas? Why did Enoch not die? Did Jesus have brothers and sisters? The discussions are many.
Many churches have beautiful rituals and customs and often have their own view of what God wants from us.
But what does God want from us?
I believe God wants us to be kind and loving and forgiving. I believe he wants us to believe in his son Jesus and the forgiveness of our sins. I believe he wants us to endure this world with faith in him and with the hope of life eternal. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in this world we lose sight that it is the world that lies beyond this one that is what matters. Our hearts are where our treasure is and our treasure is in Heaven.
I believe what God wants goes even beyond this. He wants us to love him and have a relationship with us. He wants us to open up our hearts and admit we cannot do very well without his guidance. He wants us to have faith in his path, even when we are not sure why we are doing what he guides us to do.
For me I get a tug in my heart to do what he wants. In this I am obedient. If I wasn't he would not trust me with the things he trusts me with. Many times he nudges me to say and do things or give something and I might question the outcome in my mind but I get that urgent tug and I ignore the questions of wondering if I will be embarrassed. So far I have never been embarrassed.
God will teach us through the Holy Spirit if we allow him to. The Holy Spirit gives us the eyes to understand the wisdom of God. Many times in the Bible I will see a passage and each time I will learn something new or see something that pertains to something I am struggling with.
Many people desire to please God and try to follow what is written in the Bible. Without his guidance I think it is futile. Trying to please God is a great idea, but trying to please God the way you or someone else thinks you should please God will not often bring you where you want to go.
It is like when sacrifice was in practice. It was required to have an lamb, free of blemish, male and the best of the herd to be sacrificed. This was a test of the heart, that these people would give up the best for God, but it was also a foretelling of the Jesus who was the lamb of God who paid for our sins like the many many lambs sacrificed to atone for sins. Sacrificing animals is a practice we no longer do. It is in the Old Testament but we no longer do this.
In the New Testament there is scripture that says "Judge not lest ye be judged" and another about taking the mote out of your own eye before you attempt to remove it from others.
In the Old Testament it says to inform others of their sins, as if you don't their blood will be on you, if you do then if they continue it won't.
If God were to prompt me to tell someone something I would do it. I would never inform others of their sins on my own. My God is a God of love and redemption. If you are in a deep life of sin, your thought is not on God. If it was you would be worried about his reaction. If you are not sure if you are doing wrong, you can ask God and surely he will tell you. If you accepted Jesus and you know your sins are forgiven and you seek a relationship with God, you are a work in progress. You don't become perfect over night. The Holy Spirit may draw your attention to your sin, but if you ignore him, his voice will become quieter and quieter.
I believe God knows our hearts and he will help us be better people if we give him the permission to shape and mold our hearts. With this process we see what we have done wrong, but we also get to partake in his wisdom. With faith that as Jesus said, he came to give us life abundant, letting God guide us on a better path we will.
If you decide if and when you become a Christian, that it is your mission to tell others their sins, remember this article. You may mean well, and feel like you were appointed to do this, but unless God gives you the urge and the words, you are doing more harm than good.
For example: Telling someone they need to put God first, then their spouse then their children may not be the thing to do. For you are telling them, in your judgment they don't. If they already do this and know in their hearts where they stand with God, you may think you are doing God's work, but you aren't.
Pointing out someones sins even if it true is like telling a heavy person they are fat. People have done this to me. The next time it happens me, I plan to say "Really, I'm fat, why thank you, I hadn't noticed." People like to tell me all kinds of things and I tend to thank them and not argue. I thanked one of my friends husband for telling me my husband was waiting for me in the driveway. He knew I knew. I thanked him and told him "my husband is used to waiting. I have made him wait for 28 years and he knows I don't rush off."
What God wants from me is to be obedient to him to do what he wants me to do, even if it is writing an article in the middle of the night. I do it because someone somewhere might be looking for an answer and my article might provide it. I gave him my life and my heart a long time ago.

When Jesus accended to Heaven he told the disciples that one would come after him, to talk to them and give them understanding. That is the Holy Spirit.
