I have found with the rest of the oob articles that steps seam to be left out or I just cant follow them so I decide to write about how I OOB with PE6
First chose your image this seams to be the most important part chose one with out to much background clutter for your first try and then work up to harder ones.
open your image in p3 6
click (control) ctrl j on your keyboard for a duplicate of your image
working in the are where you layer are located on the right side of the screen click the eye on the background image to shut it down
click new layer twice~ this is the box that looks like it has a square with the corner folded down you will find it right above your layer 1 image mouse over it to see its name.
delete your background image
grab layer 2 and drag it under layer 1 stay clicked on layer 2 and
click the circle above layer 3 in the tool box choose either solid color, gradient or pattern and choose your ending back ground color if you find you do not like this we will discuss how to change that after you finish the project.
now click on layer 3 taking the marquee tool also know as the ant tool because the moving dots are called ants. drag the tool in position to make your frame on your image. have your foreground color set as white and and your back ground color set as black now click alt & backspace at the same time white should fill the frame
now got to the top and click on the word select>modify>contract a box will pop up and you will get contract by (a number will be here) pixiles you can play with that number to get your frame thickness i usually use 30 then click OK now hit the delete on your keyboard this will make the inside of the frame vanish and you image show threw.
now its time to bend your frame any way you want it first to get rid of the ants that are there click select>deselect ants should vanish
next click image>transform>distort and move your frame any direction you want it by dragging the corners. when finished click the check mark that appears
now its time for the eraser anywhere you want your image to pop from the frame erase the frame in that spot I erased around the head and the paw on my shot of Frankie
now its time to erase your back ground move to layer one and go to work and erase where you want the "new back ground to show up when your done save it
now if you don't like that white frame its time to change it click back on layer 3 make sure your edit box is on full and you have effects showing now play!! nothing is set in stone you can click undo until you make the frame look the way you want it. on this pic I used molten gold and low(it puts a shadow on it)
now that the frame is the way you want it to look but you just don't like the back ground time to change it. create a new layer using the same layer tool you used before
now delete the old layer 2 which was your bottom layer and drag the newly created layer into place and click the circle again like you did before and choose either solid color* Gradient* or patten and watch it pop into place.
Now flatten your image. Go to layer on the top and click it layer>flatten image
Added text and a Frame and your ready to post it. ask any question on anything you do not understand and i will try my best to answer it as soon as possible

Did you ever try downloading that layer mask tool? I've been trying for hours, I am such a computer illiterate.
It's the place I linked to in my article the other day. But Heather and Sue got it downloaded okay.
So this is Frankie. He looks like a sweetie and he does look like Leo. Leo has white paws and an all white belly and a ringed tail. But the strangest thing about him (and it didn't show in the last photo) is he has round eyes. Really round with big pupils. I've never seen a cat with eyes that round. They melt my heart sometimes. :-)
