Well, time for an update.
The folks filtering the family holiday stories for the newspaper turned down our application, the Thanksgiving basket we applied for had the award letter lost in the mail so we didn't get that, and today we received a denial letter from the legal aide office saying that they couldn't help us with funding the custody case.
But, we got some food anyway, thanks to friends, creativity, and fast thinking. So we have a turkey for tomorrow, and things are going to be alright on the food front for a while longer. *smile*
I was able to get some clothes and goodies from the free store for myself and the girls this morning, so I now have a coat that fits me again, I have a holiday gift for a friend, and the girls have some new socks, and a yule present each (after I finish .
We have the application for winter utility assistance, but I have to get Little one's father off of my utility bill before we can submit the application.
Social services sent me a formal letter stating their findings in the trauma, and the police detective said that they should be ready to pursue criminal action in as little as two weeks.
To bypass the refusal/denial of our holiday letter to the paper, I have made copies of what I wrote, and am handing them out to the churches of our family in the hopes that one of them may know of someone, or be able to pass our family's information on to someone who knows someone who may be able to help anyway.
I also plan to send a letter to the paper itself. Mayhaps they will publish us anyway, *shrug* It is worth a try. After all, what could happen, they'll throw the letter away? There is no harm in trying.
And I have slept only two hours in the last 24.
And I'm working my online job even as I type there words, in an effort to maybe earn the teeniest amount extra.
Every little bit counts.
But at least I'm being productive.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
