Such "followers" stiffle the broad expanse of love and understanding which the Scriptures convey of Jesus the Christ. It is time now to discuss this openly, to think and to meditate, but no longer follow blindly this path professed by men to be the straight and narrow way to God.
I believe that religion (all religion including Christianity) is man's search for God and Jesus Christ is God's Grace for man (woman). Everyone's spiritual journey is unique and a lonely path. One needs to understand the effect of sin on our lives - sickness, aging and death. Chopra is a master of self-contradicting mumbo jumbo pseudo-intellectual adept at selling a lot of books to naive people in search of God and meaning of life - I don't think that it would make anyone any wiser after reading his latest book.
I can find what I need to nourish my soul by reading the Bible all of it in the proper context.
But this is the three incarnations , or career paths of the one we all know of best!
Great post. Thanks.
I never liked organized religion, I don't go for cults no matter how tried and true. Cults attract fanatics. personal, private religion is what you should seek, even if you are a congregator, the understanding of oneself which is, of course the God-head.
You are so right, Jesus preached love, and the people to wanted to live in that respect followed him and learned his teachings, the church took it all and twisted it to suit their needs and those who didn't follow them, the churches, were reviled and wars would, and still do, erupt. The eye for an eye is the old testament and except for the Jews and the Fundamentalists (who are no better than terrorists. Not the Jews) run with this shit!
I don't dig much further than..... " I believe because I've witnessed his miracles and I have asked and I have received." Thank-you Jesus....
He had needs, wants and desires, he was Spiritual and perhaps had deep meditational experiences where he spoke to his higher power. The Father, he called him, as the respect for ones father in his times was tantamount. Today, as then, he would be treated as a fanciful 'nut-job'. Not everyone was going for his new age thoughts in his own time, today we call them mystical. He pulled his world out of the old Orthodoxy of Judaism, tried to rid the people of their fear of authority. Always question authority, challenge it even!
