No, I have not slept yet. This is really going to backfire on me at 8am when the roofers show up to -finally- start the process of re-roofing my home. I signed the contract back in mid-October, around the 15th, I believe, and was told at the time that it would be around 3 weeks before they would be out, and that I would get a call in 2 weeks time to finalize the date.
He did warn me that weather could push that date back, though. It was almost a month before I even got the call, and we've rescheduled once (they were supposed to have started the project last Monday). Ah well, they never called back, so I am guessing we're a go for today.
I wasn't tired at all, so I just sat in bed watching Gilmore Girls. For a while, I did some Christmas Cards. Not many, but I just got the kids photographs in that I ordered to hand out, so I wanted to start sorting them into the cards they'll go in.
We haven't done school pictures in quite a few years, because they're too expensive. I just couldn't justify spending $30-40 per kid for a gigantic package of school pictures we don't like, but because of how large our families are, that's about what we'd have had to spend each year.
This year, I just took the kids out myself, and took their pictures, then did some editing to make them look more professional- softened the backgrounds, brightened the colors, that sort of thing. With 1 photo, in order for it to show up good, I had to move some stuff around for the prints, but nothing horrible or anything like that.
Kirese (our smallest kitten- she's about 6 months old, give or take), came into the bedroom about an hour ago. She's a total attention hog. She hates not being paid enough attention to, and she'll let you know when you aren't doing enough. For starters, she parks herself on me chest practically right under my chin in a subtle, "Here I am, Mommy, pet me!" move.
Then, if your hand isn't petting enough, she nudges it. If she spies a hand NOT petting her, she'll nudge it. So I'm laying there, and she spies Nick- asleep, by the way, and his hand laying there not petting her. She actually woke him up by nudging her head under his hand until it was on top of her head.
She's just not shy about being petted. She also doesn't like it if we're petting one of the other cats- she'll plop herself between you and the other one, again, in a subtle nod to, "Here I am Mommy, don't forget to pet me, too!"
Well anyway, I hope everyone has a good Monday, or as good as they get.
