It's been cold here for a bit; the high temperatures haven't made it out of the 30s since the beginning of the week. Today I went down to Ballard Park and Gooseneck Cove to see if the waters had frozen. They had.
In Ballard Park there were icicles hanging on the rock walls along the trails...

... and the pond on the old quarry floor was frozen over, floating leaves and all:

But that wasn't all. There was frost on the leaf-mold on the forest floor...

... and ice crystals formed on the pine-chip mulch that keeps the wetter trails walkable:

Down Hazard Rd. to Gooseneck Cove, there was more ice. The backwater to the east of Hazard Rd. gets no strong water movement, so it was frozen right over:

But even to the west of the road there's ice:

Okay, that's enough ice. It's time to go home and put some hot chocolate in me. Time to say good-bye to chilly Gooseneck Cove:

Can't believe the ice you have...as yet I have seen any on the pond or the reservoirs but then again there's tonight.
Steph, I actually like cold weather, but it's a lot colder than is usual for us this time of year. I usually get a chance to acclimate. LOL!!! And by Thursday it's supposed to get back up around 50º, so I'll end up shedding some layers and feeling overheated.
These are beautiful pictures, especially the one of the leaves frozen in the water.
Natalie, thank you. It's done.
OC and Tonia, you picked my favorite, too. It'll be my desktop picture starting tomorrow. Although I'm also kinda partial to that frosted leaf, too.
Beautiful shots. I like the first one and the different colors in the ice.
Mariana, the hugs go well with the Courvoisier I put in the hot chocolate. Thanks!
Lovely ice shots.
