Now I know I do not use a lot of font changing, but there are some that do .. and when you want to make a point of something and make sure it stands out.. sizing is the way to go... you can bold or italicize, but that does not get the point across like making a topic heading or a sub heading bigger than the rest of the article.
Kevin himself said this:
Trish, Gather's content-driven home page was replaced. The new home page can only be viewed when you sign out of Gather, and is designed to attract prospective members and is not really valuable to existing members of the community. The good news: A new member-driven home page is almost ready to be revealed! The bad news: Due to a change Gather made yesterday regarding font sizes (after the update was already implemented), this project will not be able to move forward. Hence, a campaign/protest by members to bring back alternate font sizes may be necessary to have Gather change their mind in this regard. This change serves NO purpose other than to further stifle member creativity. Stay tuned for details about this campaign/protest. Kevin (sitewizard.gather.com) V., Nov 20, 2008, 9:40am EST |
I was wondering just who would like to see a new front page and our sizing brought back?
btw.. the comment was taken from The HelpCenter for 11/20

Unfortunately this change was made last night...NOT during the update. Hence, it would appear that Gather has made a conscious decision to even further restrict creativity from our posts/articles.
I haven't read an official statement to this affect yet, but when I do I'll let you know. I will then organize a mail, ping and post protest to Gather to restore font sizing.
Thanks!
I did try the font=xx-large, and it worked until I hit publish and then the font styling was automatically deleted.
