I am so glad to report that the plumbing issues have been fixed!
Two different contractors came earlier today. They had much nicer personalities, and understood that I was stressed out. They hauled away the old water heater, installed the new one, explained a few things to me, and now I have hot water and no leak!
When my husband got home, he commented that the new water heater looked much nicer. I don't know about that, but no leak is definitely a good thing.
New Water Heater: $700
New Expansion Tank: $160
Labor + Misc. Parts: $600
Haul-away: $50
NOT having to worry about a flooded basement: Priceless

That feeling of relief! There, that's done and my house is back to normal....I am looking forward to having that feeling again soon; I am having my one and only bathroom renovated and while most of the work has been done, I am SO ready for the house to be completely mine again....this has lasted over two weeks now. Supposed to be complete by Friday....
Linda - Thank goodness your water heater was drained....
