IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE opens on November 29th!!!

I am in this year's holiday presentation of It's A wonderful Life at South Valley Civic Theatre and I play Mrs. Martini.

Mrs. Martini is the wife of Mr. Martini who owns the bar MARTINI'S. She is the one who asks George if they can have $17.50 when everyone is trying to get their money from the savings and loan. I am also playing Mrs. Hatch (Mary's Mother) in one scene only. She doesn't appear any where else in the play. We started rehearsals on the 29th of September. The play runs from November 29th through December 20th, at South Valley Civic Theatre in Morgan , CA. I loved being in Scrooge last year and really wanted to be in It's a Wonderful Life, since it's one of my favorite Jimmy Stewart movies. I am excited and this one is not a musical so there won't be any dancing, although there are a couple of scenes where we will be singing Christmas Carols. I figured since this one is not as busy as Scrooge was that even after recently having major surgery, I could handle doing this. It's going to be fun... Rehearsals have been going very well, dress rehearsal is next Monday November 24th.

It's A Wonderful Life was based on where I'm from...Bedford Falls for Seneca Falls. Much of the town in the movie was fashioned after ours down to the bridge, which used to be right across the street when I walked out the back door of my house> We also have a story about two people jumping from the bridge; a young woman trying to end her life and the solider home on leave who drowned, but saved her. Frank Capra spend several days here and crossed the brdige reading the dedication plagues several times. It's best to practice for your part by taking a couple nips...get the feeling of being a real Martini.

Woo-Hoo ... break a leg, Trudy! That's such a strange way of wishing someone success in their performance. I just checked Wikipedia for the history on that expression: Breaking one's leg is not a good thing to hope for - therefore - by some superstition - if "good luck" causes bad luck, then the perceived bad luck of breaking one's leg causes good.
