I had someone tell me that I needed to get an icon instead of the generic Gather one to increase my views, so it may be a problem for a little while.

I don't pay any attention usually. There's a couple of people who have really hateful posts that I avoid reading by their icon, but that's it for me.

No I never noticed a decrease from that. But, I do notice every time Gather does an upgrade, it slows down.

I've changed mine a couple of times for contests....I notice less without changing, but sure it's because I'm not keeping up with my friends the way I should for them to want to look at my stuff.

I really haven't noticed a difference after changing icons.
I noticed a difference after the last update, when they added the photo albums.
I started getting less comments. And, about a little less views than usual.
Lovely icon, by the way!

I look at the title of a post and if it interests me I read it. If not I pass it by. Icons have never been a reason for me to read a post. I do try to read other stuff to broaden my mind but If its on my gather page I will read around and see what peaks my interest and go from there

I believe that is true, to an extent. This may affect some members more than others...but there is definitely a connection.

I've only changed mine once, and that was way back; so don't know. I do know that when people chance icons and have similar or frequently used names it confuses me, LOL.
It might have some affect for a while I suppose on quick recognition....?

I never noticed. I thought maybe changing it to different things might get more views. I comment mostly by who comments to me and by who is in my groups. I recognize your name. :) If I haven't commented much on your posts or pictures lately, I will get there, have been making my rounds but there are lots of comments to return. Have a great Friday!
