Although lately I’ve been trying my hand at writing, weaving has been my occupation. These are some pieces finished last night, headed off in a box today to a shop.

These are some of the original designs I first started weaving with over twenty years ago, except for the Scottish plaid, Black Watch Plaid of the Pipers design which came a few years later.

That is the number one question - how long. They are all different. A simple table runner might take 30 minutes weaving time; but that does not include preparation work of setting up the loom, and finishing the piece. It's all done in stages. And you set up for a lot to make work easier. I'm always listening to music or podcasts while I work, and you just get lost in the work.

Honestly, I think I did it in a past life. I've always loved fiber starting with knitting and crocheting at a very young age but I never developed those two skills, and I really have a long way to go as far as weaving. I just experiment in color and texture for the most part.

They are lovely! BUT.... we in Scotland refer to the check designs as 'tartans' - plaid is the word we use for the blanket often worn by pipers over one shoulder!
