"Rolling Stone" Article on McCain--Very Insightful

Although I have pretty much moved on after the election, someone sent me the link to a Rolling Stone article about John McCain. I thought it was definitely worth a read so am passing it on.

My goodness. That is thorough! Thanks for posting, Carla. I just saw the film "W" last week. This Rolling Stone article about John McCain exposes many parallels in character between the two men. And it took me almost as long to read the article as to watch the movie :o) Thanks again, Carla. It's always a pleasure to read your comprehensive and thoughtful posts. (And it is indeed an enormous relief to have his excruciating campaign behind us.)

Wow Carla....how can articles like this be kept off the front pages...I am still in awe regarding what was written....and a lot of it were from the "horses mouth"....I actually had to re read...the ego of this man absolutely blows my mind.

Carla, I've read the first page and am so bothered by it that I'm not sure I want to continue. It's nothing I have not suspected, but makes me oh so grateful the election ended as it did.

Yes, Carla, I do recommend it, for several reasons: 1) the character portrayals of his cabinet are spot-on (most entertaining!); 2) the personal backstory shed light on some of his most confounding decisions as president, and helped me to understand the possible causes of his stubbornness and belligerence; 3) for those who might forever work themselves into a frenzy just thinking about him or seeing his face, it's a bit of a balm, in that it is sympathetic to him as a man (although not as a politician -- that part is still terrifying and infuriating). There's a scene in the film where things start going wrong in Iraq, and everybody is pointing the finger at everybody else ... and it's pretty bone chilling.

I agree that was long but enlightening. I tell you I still feel good in our choice of President Elect. I definitely think with him in office rather than McCain we will be fine. Maverick my foot!

I read the Rolling Stone article before the election, and tried to get it across to some friends at work who were for Obama but did not realize the real tragic seriousness of the danger to the country should McCain/Palin's mutual character defects and cover-ups be allowed into high positions......Me, I don't use information like that for hatemongering, but I DO use it as a kind of backup for what kind of space I hold, what kind of thoughts I put out, to protect the good of the nation. Also to protect the souls of McCain/Palin, who would likely incur drastically bad karma should they have won.

Thanks for posting this, Carla. The article substantiates my prior suspicion of McCain's psychopathology. We can call it narcissim, sociopathy, or plain old sociopath. A review of the DSM diagnostics qualifies him to the titles. Thank God he wasn't elected.

Unfortunately, he is now gearing up for another term as AZ senator, according to last night's newscast. He seems to still have a great need to "prove himself" to his father and grandfather. How I wish the people of Arizona would read this article in the next 2 years.

Yes, there is a remarkable resemblence to George W. with both trying to prove something to their fathers and both have some "issues". McCain only got about 50% of the vote in his home state in the general election, so that is telling.
