I just signed up at Associated Content and had a few questions if anyone is willing to answer them.
1. Is there money to be made there? I know you can make money there but is the site a place you can make any real amount of money?
2. What are the best ways you have found to up your readership on the site?
3. What are the most successful topics you have found thus far to make money and attract readers?
Honestly I am trying to learn and figure out a way to better my earning abilities so I will appreciate any informative answers you are willing to provide. Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure how long it takes to make real money on squidoo but I think in time it will really pay off. One thing with any of the 'paying' sites, you have to get viewers.
So far I've sold several books (clickbank) on one of my squidoo lenses, and get quite a lot of traffic to some of the other things I sell in conjunction with squidoo.

There are many ways there to earn money--but it takes time and work. If you enjoy writing articles, posting information, etc, it can happen.

Most of what I publish there relate to the outdoors in California. I also do a few photo essays. But, I don't really like to do a lot of writing and photo essays, that's why I don't use that site that much. I like Gather because I can upload a single photo at a time and not have to put together a package.
As for promotion, I use Stumbleupon, Twitter and Gather to promote my work there. But, lately, I have been having a problem with Stumbleupon, so it's not working for me. I also e-mail some links to my works, too. That works a little bit.
Think travel is a popular topic
The most popular articles for me are product reviews (which I rarely do,) and articles about events going on around town, or craft articles and party ideas. I usually do those on assignment for AC; they post the assignments on the page with the email.

I've made some money doing "mylot" and it's like anything, depends on how much time you're willing to put in, etc. I make on average $50 or so a month IF I put forth some effort... which I rarely do! LOL
