Autum is a time for many plants to go dormant for the winter. You can also think of it as a time for them to begin to rest. For their foliage, nuts and fruits to begin to ripen before they die and drop to the ground. They become nourishment for animals and the earth. They also ready themselves for springtime so they, themselves, can spout and grow to continue the life cycle. There can be a lot of beauty in death. And autum is the perfect time to see the beauty in it's diffrent stages.
I've seen a lot of beautiful autum pictures here on Gather that have inspired me to go out on my own quest and photograph some of the autum beauty....while it's still around. I think autum leaves, in their different stages of color, are the most popular to photograph. Afterall, the vibrant colors are hard to resist. On my quest, I thought I'd look for something a little different. I didn't know what it was, at first. I just took pictures of things I thought were not only pretty, but interesting. There were many things I found to be beautiful, aside from the foliage, which also had a lot of texture and debth. Join me on my pictoral odessy as I take you around the trails I often hike.

I meant the foliage, nuts, fruit will die. Not the trees themselves. I did word that wrong, so I went back to edit.
Thank you, Kim.
I would love to be creative like that. While walking through the trails, I thought the same thing....that these would be nice in an arrangement, but I'm horrible at arranging. lol
Thank you, Elaine.
