5.Milli Vanilli wins best new artist only to have the award stripped from them in 1990.

6.The Soviet Union officially leaves Afghanistan.

7.The top grossing movie of 1989 is Batman.

8.The top TV show of 1989 is Rosanne.

9.The FBI writes rap group NWA informing them that they do not appreciate their song "F**ck Tha Police.

10.And my favorite fact of 1989.......I graduated high school......
