Today I'm Aching but Not Bruised

Today I am sore and aching.  Two pregnant ladies got in a physical altercation at the maternity home I  work at...and in trying to break them apart, I got thrown to the ground. 

Talk about hormones gone crazy.  Kicking, punching, pulling hair.  I was mortified, so scared the babies were going to be injured.  It all happened so fast, and was over in a flash.  Thank goodness nobody was really hurt...although I woke up with a sore arm and back.  The babies are okay, and that was my main concern.

I have to say that this was a first for me...seeing ladies who are 6 months pregnant duke it out on the floor like a couple of men. 

Anyway, I just needed to vent a bit, and who better to vent to than my Gather friends?...:)

that is appaulling! What the heck is wrong with them?? They certainly should not be mothers, acting like that. It really just disgusts me. I am glad that you are okay though.

Oh man. That had to be very exciting. I'm sorry you got roughed up in the scuffel. But just think about the stories you can tell when you are old and gray. Glad you are okay.

Duking it out like men? Shall I assume the next time I see two men flighting they are duking it out like two pregnant laides in a Maternity home?

I'm glad everyone is OK. Seems funnier to read than to experience I'm sure, but you wrote it so well, I coudln't help but chuckle.

That had to be exhausting. It sounds like these women have some issues. I hope they get them worked out for the sake of their children

ah, I remember the days... I worked with kids and adolescents, not with pregnant women.... but still lots of those sorts of things to deal with

so ... your clients read much? I would really, really love to know about the books on hand in the facility...

The girls are young and immature...and it all started over comments about one baby's daddy being better than another baby's daddy. It all comes down to self control...and learning when to just walk away rather than get back at the other person. I think they both learned a lesson, so hopefully this was a first AND a last time for such a scenario.

That's crazy. Women are becoming more and more aggressive. When I taught at a middle school I was once thrown into the wall by a crazed student, when I tried to break up the fight. I learned to always quickly assess who doesn't want to be in the fight and pull them away.

It does amaze me how (some) young women act these days. I'm glad you and the babies are fine, and I hope they have ugly black eyes.

I am happy to hear the babies are doing okay.......Some peopel just don't think the dangers they are putting their babies in to when fighting. It truely makes me wonder what kind of parents they will turn out to be.

Oh my that would be shocking , oh I read it again this was at a maternity home and not a hospital but still good grief ! And you'd think they would be concerned about being their babies being injured as well !

It sounds like a 2 yr old reason to start a fight, and it is frightening to think they are having babies.

This kind of excitement is better left out! I hope you recover quickly. One hint. I have seen it before a person trying to break up a fight gets hurt the worst. It is better for all concerned especially you to wait for help. But I admire you care for the babies. It is faith in action.

Knowing how pregnancy hormones can affect me sometimes I can see how 2 young and immature pregnant girls could get out of hand in an argument... Not that makes it right or gives them an excuse...

Crazy girls. But this is why they are in the home and why people like you are needed :) I hope they grow up some whether they keep or adopt out their babies.

Actually, it happened in the living room area of the home. They were sitting across the room from each other as the "conversation" started. I kept directed them both to change the subject and to stop with the insults. They simply refused to listen to me. I got up and stood in between them so they could not see each other and told them to stop it again. This is when the one girl lunged at the other girl and reached over me and began hitting her. The other girl hit back and knocked me down, flipping me over the arm of the sofa...and this is when I hit the floor. They were actually on the ground punching and kicking each other. I was scared to death. I'm glad they're okay.

As for me, I'm okay...just really sore all over...

I am glad it wasn't worse than it was. Hope you feel better soon. HOpe they get themselves under control for the remainder of their pregnancies!
