Book Contests for Photo Shot: Insect World
Do you always have a camera in your hand? Do you always notice the beauty that surrounds you daily? We need your creativity. Cassandra wanted to have a contest for the children. This contest is for Photo Shot. It will run for 1 week beginning Saturday, November 8-15, ending at midnight 12 a.m. EST.
To enter the contest, submit your best shots of insects to Photo Shot. Tag your pictures, videos, artwork, or photo essays with "insects". The book is brand new in shrink-wrap from Time Life: Insect World, a child's first library of learning. It will make a nice gift for your child, grandchildren, niece, nephew, cousin, or the neighborhood child who has adopted you!
To make the contest fair her daughter and son will be judging all submissions. Flying, crawling, drawn, painted....send them in!
Gather wants you to share your Coffee-and-a-Book photos. Your photos can be fun or serious, artistic or simplistic, without people or with the entire family. Just make sure you include an image of coffee and a book in your photos.

United Nations Development Fund for Women to end violence against women
There are many good causes in the world that could use your support. I received an email from a gather member who is involved in one such cause. One in every three women may suffer from abuse and violence in her lifetime. This is an appalling human rights violation. Thank you Chana M. for bringing this to my attention.
It seems that most of us are having problems just paying the bills. The economy is not doing too well and each of us are suffering. There are many ways that we can help others in our local community as well as in the Gather community.
