While I don't believe this is going to stop all the killing and brutality in Darfur, the fact that Bashir has been forced to declare a ceasefire is definitely encouraging, and means that he is feeling pressure to stop the genocide. For a while, at least, the people of the Sudan may get some surcease from the hell they've been living in.
