The last couple of years have presented me some personal challenges that came without warning and collectively became quite overwhelming. Some remain unresolved, but this is a good time to catch my breath and count my blessings, especially as Thanksgiving approaches. By observing others' situations I've been reminded many times of late to be grateful; things could always be worse and are worse for many others.
I'm grateful for many things: my health, my family, my sweet little dog, an end to my father's suffering, a new relationship with my sister, my home, plenty of food to eat, clothes to wear, a yard full of flowers and trees, music, books, the love of good people, my wonderful friends, the ability to think for myself, the spirit to survive ... and
always, always the hope for a better future.

My family has had an extremely rough year, but I am quickly reminded of others that have it much worse. My nine year old has had two friends in her class this year and last with cancer. These children inspire me so very much. Each day that they get up and go through so much just so they can get back to being kids. May God Bless you, Nancy!
Gratitude*:
Where would I be without you, my good friend? I don't consider myself stronger than you for sure; you have always met life's challenges with a smile and a kind word-- every single day that I have known you. It is an honor to be your friend.
Should we not be gratefull for all the heart-aches, pain and dissappointments we have suffered through?
Are these things not a big part of what makes us who we are?
Some days I don't feel that way, but I try to start each day anew and give it my best. Support from good friends and family makes a huge difference. :)
Hope your daughter gets well soon.
((Hugs)) for your losses. Lost my dad 1 1/2 yrs ago, as well. An end to suffering.
This is wonderful. It is exactly what I was looking for. I will spotlight it in the Wednesday Today on Gather post. I will submit it sometime around 9 PM EST tonight. Thanks so much for giving me the link. :)
I'm glad you're feeling better.
