At the beginning of this month, in order to keep our electricity on, we only paid half of our rent, knowing that we would pay the second half this Friday, which is the first payday of the month. The day that we paid our rent, we were given a ‘Three day, pay or vacate' notice. When we went to talk to them about it, the manager wasn't in. She took the weekend off-Only Sunday is the third day of our notice. So it would have to wait until Monday. They have already accepted the first portion of our rent, so she can't refuse the rest for November, but we have been put onto a month to month, so I'm afraid that the manager may want to evict us.
Although, if she does, then we will simply putt he rest oft his month money-as well as part of next months money (since we would technically have 30 days to get out) and we may even end up in a better place.
Obviously, these tough economic times have had a toile on everyone. These managers seem like slum lords to the obvious, but deep down they may be feeling the crunch as well. And it is hard trying to make it as an apartment manager when you're driving a new car, and have brand new fancy clothes, and I'm not even mentioning the nails or hair.
The reality is that we have had a list of things to be replaced or fixed for more than a year now. And as much I would hate to be evicted, I want a different dwelling as well. We are now ‘trying' to save up to move, but just as we found out that we were on a month to month, all these bills came at us, the car started acting up, so that needed to be fixed, then there's Halloween for 4 kids (I made the costumes for the girls, and the boys wore their costumes from last year) next is Thanksgiving, then Christmas. I also forgot to add in the school clothes and supplies- Did I mention four children?
Regardless of what happens, everything will work out just fine.
