UNDER CHIAROSCURO SKIES
Chiaroscuro (Italian for light-dark) is a term in art for a contrast
between light and dark.
The moon's sultry glow is fueled
by the seductive dazzle of stars
filling the heavens.
Bathed in dusky chiaroscuro,
the light dims and moody clouds come.
Darkness mingles with muted shadows
and night settles over the city,
silent and mysterious.
No breath of wind stirs
to blunt the senses.
Light and dark fall unevenly,
linger passionate and intense,
beautiful enough to hurt.

And I love the word Chiaroscuro. We've learned two new words this week! (And people thought Heliotrope was hard!)
(Ummm...since I understood it, that doesn't make it bad, does it?)
