Tina has determined our November challenge for us and will be judging which photo, in her opinion, best fits project. Without further ado, she decided on "Curves".
These could be photos of things (or people), structures...close-ups or macros, items in motion, just emphasize the curves. We're going to explore using that inner eye...finding the great subject, seeing what others don't see and capturing it. The goal here is to give us that artist's eye. Nature doesn't make a straight line! But how do you showcase a curve. How do you emphasize it? How do you present it and where do you find it? Obviously, there are a couple of conditions:
- No roads. No streets, no Avenues, no Parkways, no driveways, no Boulevards. These shots are FAR too common and rules must be added to amuse me and my co-moderator...and to keep the challenge intense! If we see a street, or anything a motorized, 4 wheeled, gas-guzzling vehicle can drive on, the photo will not be accepted. Bike paths are ok....
- Absolutely no photos of salt shakers shaped like animals. If you have a salt shaker shaped like a chicken or a platypus, that might be very fricken cool to the happy people in the backwoods of the Kentucky, but it won't get accepted here. We simply MUST draw the line somewhere! Incidentally...anyone with a platypus saltshaker [ *mouths words* ...Call me. ]
It's a difficult challenge in a different way. Here, it's going to challenge you to see the shot and then capture it. Curves are ALL around us!. We now expect you to stretch those wings and give it a shot!
Any questions or advice needed can be asked of either Gayle or I and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Just add IPC to the e-mail tag. J
Some pointers...:

There's curves are seen in the wake. They're in the helmet, and on the watercraft. Curves are everywhere. But is the focus of this shot meant to show us the curves? Not really. This challenge will be about showcasing the curve!

Be creative and run with your ideas. Here are some shots of smoke in colored lights. The right side is just the left side flipped and hue adjustment in photoshop. Note that this is something VERY common...but can be looked at differently.

Inside a wicker lampshade. Sinuous curves...common item...unique look.

A tower at Universal City with a spiral staircase. I have no idea why it's there or what it's used for. But it's different and accents a curve.

So whether it's the sinuous curve of a flame that floats your boat...

or the curves in beautiful architecture, like the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco....show us your curves.
Note: We will be running this until Dec. 6th this time and this time ONLY!
There will be NO challenge for December...so we can enjoy the Holidays....but The IPG will accept all holiday photos for that Month. January, we'll begin a new year together with the selectee from November. Happy shooting everyone!
Have fun with the project and don't hesistate to ask questions!
