Do any of you participate in holiday craft fairs??

If so, I have some questions for you. I did one in our town a couple of years ago and enjoyed myself. I didn't do it last year because I had to have some unexpected surgery. I am planning on doing it this year as well and I am hard at work on my items.

So, my questions are:

1)what types of things do you make?

2)How much do you typically pay for your table?

3) Do you usually make a great profit?

Feel free to post any other advice you have!!

I haven't done any in the past few years. I like to do the cheaper ones $20 or so they are usually smaller venues like churches.

I would sell jewelry and other crafts, some years I made a lot and other years I made almost nothing.

One really bad show that happened to be the same day as a U of M home game and the first snow fall of the year, it was so slow that I left my booth and just started Christmas shopping. Well, Christmas trading I guess, I would trade jewelry for crafts. It became a trend and by the end of the show we'd all had a good time even if no one else showed up :-)

In the summer time I sell flip flops with fun fur on them. I also make hair bows and I make soy candles and sell them. I can only use soy candles in my house.

I've thought about doing these types of things, but I would have to do them by myself and that's really hard. I am not up to it.

I used to sell Christmas items (dressed up Teddy bears, wreaths, candle holders) at work but in the past 7 or 8 years but they changed their policy.....so I'm no longer selling items.

I did for several years but found that I did not do well enough to cover my cost much less the time it took to make items. I could have offered to work a single overtime day and done much better.

I've never done one though I've thought about it. I don't think I'd make enough to justify the time and expense.

NOrmally I do, however this year, I didn't have the funds to do any of it. Mostly I pay between $15 and $35, depending on the event. I make gourmet pop corns, chocolate candy(several varieties), chocolate barks, wreaths, garlands and hand painted ornaments. I always make a very good profit. Hopefully next year I'll be able to attend a few.
