I saw that before, Thats old, Thats not true, etc etc etc I dont know why people have to say these things also A lot of the stuff i post, is stuff I really like, so I want to keep it all together, yes I realaize it is old and it has made its rounds several times, and yes I am sure some have read it before, but I like it, Yes I also know it might not be 100% true but as long as it isnt dangerous and it amused me, Ill post it. I dont see what people have to be negative with anything unless its dangerous. I agree with you !

Amazingly...the folks who seem to have a conviction...aren't the ones that are the guilty ones. The guilty ones will read and not comment, but give you a low rating. However, I've stolen their "thunder" by turning my ratings off! ROFL!!!
Keep sharing and smiling - let those miserable people keep trying to steal your thunder - some people are just UNHAPPY and want to make others feel that way. Boo on them!
If I've ever offended, I apologize, but I sometimes mention in a comment that I'd read or seen something before, usually as a way of saying I liked it just as much another time around. That isn't a negative toward you or anyone posting it (hopefully it's not something copyrighted, of course), but it's a way of confirming that I enjoyed it greatly, too, and appreciated seeing it again. So I guess I'm not "getting it".
Teresa, where did I do that at? I did not mean to do it, and I do appologize. I have a habit of having a big mouth at times, and spills over to my writing as well.
Yes, I read that yesterday on another post.....JUST KIDDING. If I'm one of them it's because I'm very self centered and I just have to do the "one up on you" thing.....like a kid I saw it first type of thing.....Don't worry about it, just keep posting you've never posted anything boring yet, not even this.

I just don't understand the reasoning behind insulting or low rating anyone. If I don't like something I simply move on. I won't leave a low rating, and I won't make a comment just to be nasty.
I might have been under the haze of chemo when I left someone a comment once that was a tad nasty as the post was touting the wonders of a vegetarian diet for cancer patients. I didn't think it was fair to make a blanket statement like that esp. since the writer didn't indicate she was a survivor herself.

So I started doing it to her. Especially when she talks about having allergy or sinus problems. Since I have asthma and SEVERE allergies, I get her every time and eventually she does shut up!!!
Sometimes when someone has posted something I have seen before I do explain that I have seen it but also add that it is always worth viewing again. Sometimes people want to leave a comment and do not not what else to say. I am sure no harm is meant by it. At least when I do it I mean no harm.
Dan... I didn't say you did this to me. I just commended you for being honest that you did it period. Because you mentioned you did, unless you were kidding? Most people don't have the nerve to admit something like this. It's hard to see if someone is kidding on a website unless they do "LOL" or something.
I don't neccessarily think people realize that they are doing it. Some make so many comments and look at so many pages, that I don't think they think....if you know what I mean. It's probably not personal. That said, I hope it wasn't me.

There are some real snots on Gather. Enjoy your moment of thunder. Most people that I know on Gather are very supportive and do not try to make themselves look good by putting others down. You can find so many nice people here that the others become seriously insignificant and unimportant.
Teresa, I think that it is a good thing that you wrote this article. As mentioned in some of the comments above, some may have done this. It's good to remind people of what they may or may not be doing, especially if it's not positive. In this case it has made us aware.
Well... I have found that some who said I know what you mean here in this article are doing it more than before I wrote this thing. I guess some people really don't realize that they are doing it. Oh well...
I do this sometimes....I don't mean to steal anyone's thunder or anything. I just talk a lot, and sometimes don't know when to shut up. ;) If I say that I read something before or that I've tried something, etc, I'm usually just saying I liked it, or if it's a recipe, and I say that we did this different, it's really because I'm trying to add something to it, not take anything away. I just like giving options.
I agree -- I'm not sure that everyone who does that is aware of what it looks like after they comment though. I guess I would want someone to contact ME directly if something I said upset them... I hope I haven't unknowingly done that!

I'm guilty of mentioning when I've seen something before. It often influences how you feel about a joke, story or quote. You may not laugh out loud or cry or get as big a kick out of something the second time around. However, it doesn't mean to imply anything against the poster. We're not naive enough to believe every post is unique. Besides, usually only the best are repeated.
