How many of you have had your pictures stolen off of Gather? I have heard about this ever since joining and I was just wondering just how many people have been effected by it.

I don't think I've ever had a picture stolen...or at least I don't think so. With me, I have a stalker troll in real life who tracks me everywhere I go. He Googled my name to find me on Gather. I know he's stolen some of my articles...so he can pick them apart and make up more lies about me to use on another site trying to get people to hate me so he can have me all to himself...but that ain't never gonna happen...even if he were the only other person left on the face of this planet.

I don't think that any of mine have been, but then again, how would I really know?

I think that it was Sue that was really ripped off through here and then Zazzle. I think that she got that straightened out, sort of.

Like Rob, I'm not aware if any of my pictures were stolen or not---I don't think they were. I've got a real life stalker troll though, but for the most part, he seems to only troll my professional life and movements---when he can.

Not here that I know of, but I have had them taken before...I usually do photoshop work to photos and I have done some work on some band photos just to make them the way I wanted them to appear.....one photo ended up everywhere and was even posted by a band member on his myspace page...I found it funny....I have also seen other photos I have worked on many places across the net...there isnt much you can do about it really...Photos that I am worried about people taking I will watermark them as I did with my Crue Fest pics.

Okay the troll thing is crazy. Why would people make it their mission to track peoples movements and try to make others think low of them.
I don't think any of my images have been stolen. For a while, I used watermarks, but that required altering my photos every time I wanted to upload one, which was a pain.

One thing I would like Gather to do is add a watermark if we want one there, by simply letting us make a check on the upload process.

This has happened to several members over the past year alone. In some cases the member published the images on Gather under their own name, and in other cases the member was using them commercially for profit in some way on another site.

Gather was going to put together a panel of members to explore photo and content protection, but that was back in March and no action has been taken since then.

Also, it should be noted that all photos and content on Gather are NEVER removed, even when you delete it. It stays on Gather's servers indefinitely. Also, once a person has access to your photos, you cannot terminate that access...at all.
