Kristallnacht - A Response To Pastor Martin Niemöller
You took away my livelihood,
took away my schools,
my businesses,
sequestered me into a ghetto,
but you could not take my mind.
You burned my synogogue,
burned my Torah,
attacked my people,
used your words,
but you could not take away my heart.
You put me in a death camp,
starved my body,
abused me with your cruel ways,
pained my heart by killing my people,
but you could never take my soul.
I am strong!
I am powerfull!
I am legion!
I have defeated you before,
I am now ever vigilant.
For each of us you take,
there is another to stand,
taller and stronger than the last.
We will not go quietly into the night.
We will never forget.

The Magen David (Shield of David, otherwise know as the Star of David) is a symbol of being Jewish (not of Judaism as the Cross is of being Christian). Inside this Magen David is a Chai, which loosly translated means to life. It is also a symbol of being Jewish. These are symbols that say we are part of the Jewish people. I wear one similar to this one around my neck. I linked to Wikipaedia articles about these symbols if you want to learn a little about them. Just click on the names. Again I also suggest Aish which is a great website if you wish to learn more. We have many remembrance days in Judaism. We take these and not only remember what happened, but apply them to the life we have today, the here and now. Some of you may feel I am going a bit overboard here (yes this is the last of it), I am sorry if you do. Take this poem and apply it to today. Never forget.

Someone that not only has a great talent ,and uses it to teach those who know so litle and need to know more
Thank you for posting to Endless Points.
I have many Jewish friends and also worked as the Executive Assistant to the CEO of Arrow Industries here in Dallas, Texas to a Jewish man. His name was Marcus Rosenberg and now his son David Rosenberg runs the company.
I also dated two Jewish men and almost married one so I was taking classes to convert to Judaism for him. I never married him but did learn a lot from my classes.
I love the many Jewish wedding and ceremonies that I have attended and feel that more people need to learn that theirs is not the only religion in the world.
Thanks for this Chana.
That their neighbors, their friends
Hated them so much that
They would destroy all
That had any meaning to them
With the sound of breaking glass
Shouts of "Juden!"
Flames licking up from the street
Smell of smoke and fear
Eyes peering out from curtains drawn
Hearts broke along with the glass
Their neighbors had forsaken them
Betrayed them
Forgotten them
Sent them into oblivion
These were neighbors, friends, and co-workers. Shut your eyes to how the rights of others are discarded and risk falling into this same trap, making excuses, saying "But I didn't know..."
Six million examples bought your wisdom with their deaths. Don't close your eyes, your heart or your mouths.
Beautiful poem, Xtabber.
Yom Hashoah. It's about my mother-in-law, Rose.
I have featured your response poem in Celebration of Collaboration and Inspiration!
